blog 12


 writing plan


             Here are the problems I have to deal to:


1.      I have minor spelling mistakes.

2.      Sometimes my thesis is unclear and my body paragraphs do not mention or talk about my thesis.

3.      I need to work on grammar/usage problems (for instance "I heard a new" and "some people use to listen")."I am trying to go to the gym about one month ago.”

4.     Develop my examples properly.

5.      Verb error.

6.      Subject-verb agreement.

 Personally, I can say that my first problem is that I get nervous when I remember that I have to take a test, which is very important. I scared that if I do not do well I will be repeating this class forever. This is not something that I want; I really want to be proud of myself because I think that I can pass the test.

 I need to work more in my spelling, even though I know this regularly happen when I am nervous.  I need to make time, plan my time after I finish writing and start reading my essay and see if I can find grammar and spelling mistakes.

 I set my thesis in my essay and it does not mean anything because my body paragraph talk about other things, another thesis. I think I have to pay attention to the main ideas.

BLOG 11


Individuals in group(CATW practice 2- revised)

              People behave different when they are in groups or in their own is stated in “Individualism in groups” by Carol Tavris adapted from “In groups we shrink”. The behavior on being in groups is stronger than being alone. Each head become lazy when they are in groups.  If people are in group, each one thinks that nothing can be done by them if there are more people around.  Each person thinks that someone else can do it. I agree with this significant idea “The more people in a group, the lazier each individual in it becomes.

People tend to leave the work to someone else. There is a Spanish novella called “Relaciones Peligrosas” where two student use to bull other students. After school started, they liked to bother a young black boy in specific. What is surprising to me is that if they had to do it individually they did not do it as if one depends on the other to do something. This remembers the way I behave when I am in group or alone. If I go somewhere where I don’t know anybody and I am lost I have to ask somebody where to go, but if I go to somewhere with a friend I tell my friend to ask.

People do not react properly when they have to. I watched news in my country, two years ago, which is the Dominican Republic, where in a Hospital and old woman collapsed in the lobby. Many people were there, people were passing and watching the poor woman complaining, but nobody helped her. Ten minutes after, a doctor came and helped her. I think that those people who were there waiting for their appointment thought that she could wait for a doctor to come.

People are very lazy when they are in a group and always one of them is going to react after. Three months ago, I was in the L train going to Brooklyn and a man fell doing weird things as if he was having a heart attack. About fifteen minutes passed and no one went to help him. But twenty minutes after, a couple took pity of the man, went to aid him and look for assistance. On my own experience, when I have to go somewhere where I haven’t been there I do not like to go alone. I always ask to somebody to go with me. I was trying to go to the gym about one month ago, and because I could not find somebody to go with me, I have not gone there yet.

In conclusion, you can be a student, a professional or a normal person but you won’t ever avoid the nature of people. When a person is in a group he/ she may think that somebody else can solve a problem but if they are alone they do not have more options than do it for themselves.

Catw practice 3



            The child is going to know his position in the family, depending in the order of birth is stated in “How your birth order influences your life adjustment” by Lucille Forer. Parents would think the oldest child will be able to get information faster than the youngest one. The middle child usually he will be learning about how to do things than other people coping from his older sibling. The youngest child should not do what others do but he has somebody to help and to take care of him. The only child has to learn and be on his own when parents are not there. I agree with the author’s statement that “The only child tends to think, when my parents are not around, I have no one to turn to for help. So I’d better learn to take care of myself”



            As the older child, parents may think that this one is going to be the head of the children. I like to see a TV show named “ Good luck Charlie” on Disney channel where the older child uses to make videos of how life is and make the youngest one watch and learn of them. She is always recording what is happening in her life and give advises to make the youngest one “Charlie” live life less difficult. Teddy, the older one, just ask for help to their parents when she need it because she knows that she knows more about life than her brothers and when parents are not there she is on her own.



            The only child have to learn for his own point of life, there isn’t anything to copy of. When babies cry they are sure that somebody is going to pick them up. My sister who is now in the earth, she died when she was two month and a half, she used to cry a lot and she did not shut up until my mother or me pick her up. On day, my mother realized that when she left my sister when my sister was crying, after minutes my sister shut up by herself. I think she knew and thought that if there was nobody to pick her up; she should take care of herself.

            As I grew up, I think I learned of my own error with help of my parents only, I have one sister, the oldest one, and a brother, the youngest one. My sister since she born she cannot talk, walk, sit, she is just lying in her bed, crying when she is hungry or something is bothering her. My brother is 5 years old and he does not live with me, I do not count him. I did not have somebody to fight, to talk as my sibling, just my parents. My ways of thinking, my attitudes and my personalities I got them on my own or on what my parents used to teach me. Also I did not have a personal shape of following, it was just me.

             In conclusion, the birth order influe in your life and on how you are going to be identify in your family. Depending on people birth order, their expectation on life and how they are going to develop it.

Heroic Acts and Heroic Personalities



A Hero is somebody who helps other people without caring about who that person is. Hero, as the word says, is a person that takes care of other people problems and conflicts. To a person be a hero, should have some kinds power but also good behaviors and a personality.  I can’t imagine a hero without any manners, as Bernie LA plant and John Bubber from the movie Hero.

According to the movie “Hero”, Bernie La plant was the one who saved 54 people that were inside an airplane flight 144, but he did not do it because he wanted to help, he did it because he thought it was the right, and maybe he would not want to carry the death of those people in his mind. On the other hand, I believe in this phrase, “shoes got by devilish, will burn your feet”, this means referring to the actor Jonny Bubber that even he wanted it to help others people like homeless and sick people, stealing other person money was an error. In this movie I cannot say who the Hero is, because La plant saved 54 people but he is a criminal who has been in jail too many times, and Bubber wanted to help people but he used the shoes to take credit of the act and stole La plant’s money to do it.

No matter who or what you are a Hero should help you. I saw a movie, it is a little bit artificial, where a bad person used to make portions and one of them was to make a dog have powers such as fly, be indestructible, talk. The dog he chose was owner of somebody who after three days realized that he could understand his god. The owner trained his dog in a good way to make his dog does good things, because the dog would use this power to kill and do bad things. I think the owner of this dog thought that if he did not train his dog with good behavior it does not matter if the dog has powers the most important thing is in what way the dog is was going to use them.

 In conclusion, a Hero should be somebody that does not have any bad background but I also think that we are human beings and we, for nature, make mistakes. There is a huge difference between a Hero and human beings. A Hero should be there to help without looking at that person face, just do what is correct.

Revise catw practice 1



According to the passage, “Is Music a Good Tool for Health?,” adapted from “How and Why is Music a Good Tool for Health?,” by Elizabeth Scoot, shows that music has a deep cause on your body and  mind. Music therapy is a wide way of health care. The passage shows two different research of how music can affect and help our health. Music with strong beat can provoke brainwaves to synchronize with the beats. In addition, breathing and heart rate can bring changes by the music. Also, music has a profound power on helping people to control and maintain depression and anxiety problems. I agree with the author that “the music can help us to fight with some mental and health problems.”



Music therapy can help to solve or control health problems. Doctors are trying to develop the benefits when using music as a therapy such as cancer patients, kids who do not know how to pay attention. Hospitals realized that music therapy is a wise way to help people with some problems like depression. I also believe that people can transmit their feeling throughout the music. I heard a new in my country, which is the Dominican Republic, that doctor should not have music with strong beats in their offices, because this kind of music is a damaging problem for their mind, excited them and can be a littler noise. They said that doctor should have music that kind of music like Jazz. In other words, music does interfere a lot in our mind and in the way we feel.



Faster and slower beats affects our seven senses. As the author says the faster beats can induce in our concentration and more alert thinking. However, the slower beats can bring you calm and a relaxing moment. Referring to the faster beats, in the mornings, when I get into the train and I put my iPod on, I usually listen some kind of music that wake me up such as Regueton. I will be more active when I listen to these kinds of music. On the other hand, when a listen soft and slow songs I fall asleep.



Music therapy is a good way for our health. I believe that if we think about it, we will find this affective. For example, some people use to listen slow music when they are sad or depressing unknowing that listen those kind of music can remember them the reasons of why they are sad. When I am sad, I use to listening faster music and funny music that make me forget about why I was sad.



In conclusion, music can infer and help us to control and prevent some mental and health problem. People have discovered in many ways how to help another people with their health and one of those is music. And as I see professionals in the subject have been using these methods, probably because it works.

Her parents were having some problems because of cheating and her mother was arguing with her father. Momentously, her father when to their bed took a gun and shot her. This is a traumatic case, the girl was depressive. She did not eat and she was having health problems because of the impact that cause her. Her friend’s mother took her to the doctor, a psychology, the doctor with some analysis give her some CD’s and ask her to listen those, one each day. She was feeling well day by day with the music and the appointments she was supposed to take.
