Revised Diagnostic "Hype"
The passage
“Hype” by Kalle Lasn, the author tells us how Advertisements are moving up and
going into people’s brain. The passage gives an estimate of 12 billion display
ads, 3 million radio commercials, and T.V commercials. There are no new places where
to see advertisements. They are always in the same places such as the gas
station, schools, buses, and billboard. Anywhere you see, those papers are post
there. Therefore, advertisements are sticky with you. I agree with the author’s
ideas, advertisement is a good idea but sometimes it can bother people.
As people see
economy is one of the most important issues they are fighting for. Therefore,
those who have their own company or even the employees have been trying to make
their company increase and get better the economic problem and publicity is one
of the most persuasive methods and ways.
Advertisement is a form of communication where owners publish their
products but there are not new places where they can set those. As the author
says these ads are everywhere you see and as an example in the gas station,
schools, and billboards.
In my opinion,
people should do advertisements and spend money in another way. I think that if
people spend money in something creative and educational, this world would be
better than it is. Advertisements are always trying to get people’s attention
to make them to consume their products.
For example, when I first came to New York, two years ago, I would like
to take an intensive class of English. Two months after, I was in the train A
and I saw an advertisement telling me where to call to take this course. I had
not taken this course if I do not see the advertisement. It was a good, for me.
All these
advertisements are not only a headache for people’s mental and kid’s progress,
this affects the world, as the author gives us an
example: “ you drive through the countryside and the view of the wheat fields
is broken at intervals by enormous billboard”, in another words, those biggest
posters are damaging the society in one
way or another.
is not only on T.V or radio. On Sunday, I was in the internet looking for a
dictionary and in the web www.dictionary.com
appears an ad selling a new tide pods. This announces almost took the whole
page. I was wondering to myself, did I look for announces or did I look for a
dictionary to help me with vocabulary words?
